The Old Monty Method
Old Monty is a true Real Cider - we use 100% pure apple juice, with no pasteurisation, filtration, or added sulphites. Mass produced commercial ciders are made from concentrate and watered down then quickly fermented for maximum yield. We allow fermentation - using wild yeasts - to take as long as it needs. Old Monty Cider has a deep rooted respect for the terroir. From the careful selection of our heritage varieties to the traditional pressing methods that have been perfected over generations, we craft small-batch cider that honours the land and celebrates the unique flavours of Powys.
Oakey Cokey
Oak cask cider. Each year a select batch of our Traditional cider is matured in oak barrels previously used for rum. This imparts a distinctive flavour not only from the seasoned oak, but the vanilla and spice of the rum.
Kingston Black
A single variety cider, made purely from the superlative Kingston Black apple. The apple is held in such high regard due to it's complete balance of flavour, making it one of the few apples that can be used without blending.
Camlad
Unique to Old Monty, this ultra small batch cider is a single variety made from the Camlad apple. Analysis of the original Camlad tree showed it to be an undocumented variety, now named after the stream running nearby.
Pearygl
Pearygl is our perry, made by the exact same method as our traditional cider. The finest quality perry pears are pressed and blended to create a distinct light and floral flavour which retains its natural sweetness.

Old Monty is proud to be the only cidermaker producing a UK Protected Geographical Indicator compliant Traditional Welsh Cider. The specifications are strict, but allow us to produce a cider of the highest quality.

Our traditional cider is the mainstay of our range, always available and made from a blend of apples from our orchards. Available in three levels of sweetness: High & Dry; Happy Medium; and Sweet Anita.
